Brighouse Town extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a 1-1 draw at home to Bridlington Town.
Bridlington had goalkeeper Jonathan Dash to thank for their valuable point as he pulled off some superb saves especially after Grant Black’s boys had gone 1-0 up in the 42nd minute.
An audacious lob on goal from Romario Dunne had Dash scrambling to try and keep the ball out but on this occasion he was well beaten.
Skipper Harvey Booth had put a great ball through to split the Bridlington defence wide open.
Dash, who took the Bridlington man of the match award, saved on the line from a Nathan Curtis header and parried a Youssef Chentouf shot wide of his near post for a corner.
The visitors on the ball had been a strong force in midfield and down the flanks in the first half and a goal disallowed on 31 minutes when Jake Day was caught off side.
Bridlington started the second half very strongly and it was Town’s custodian Michael Acquah who then saw plenty of action.
It was real cut and thrust in the second half as Town held onto their lead and the Seasiders went all out to find a leveller for caretaker-player manager Michael Coulson.
Chentouf on two occasions brought out the best of Dash and Ferdy Annor and Kane Richardson were in great form to keep taking the game to their visitors.
With five minutes of added time announced Town were looking going into the last minute as they were holding onto their lead for all three points until the referee gave a free kick for hand ball.
Dash launched the ball into the box and the tall centre half Tom Allan got his head to it to beat Acquah and make it 1-1.
Town’s assistant player-coach Danny Frost said after the game:” we had our chances and the end result to some extent feels like a defeat.
“However we go unbeaten once more and against a good side and on the positive side it’s another valuable point.”
Town have a coach going to Ashington on Saturday which will leave the Dusty Miller at 10.45.

Brighouse Town’s six match unbeaten run was put on hold last Saturday as Storm Claudia swept in on the Friday and left the pitch at the Heffernan Utilities Stadium under water.
It left club officials counting the cost with East Division League leaders Redcar Athletic the visitors and a special season ticket promotion for international break weekend also knocked on the head as a result of the postponement.
The game has been re-arranged for Wednesday, December 3 (7.45) and the season ticket promotion will stand in this game with local professional clubs not involved in their leagues on the night.
On Saturday, Town entertain Bridlington Town (3pm and parted company with their Management team shortly after the game) who surprisingly lost 2-1 at home last Saturday to Grimsby Borough. The Seasiders currently sit three places and two points above Town in ninth place.
Manager Grant Black only has the long term injury of striker Rhys Plater to contend with and the absence of midfielder Mohssen Mohamed who is still away until Sunday night with the Yemen squad at their camp in Cairo

The 38th minute angled strike from in form winger Youssef Chentouf proved decisive but before that centre forward Romario Dunne was denied twice by Spartans’ keeper Callum Dobson who also denied Chentouf some six minutes before he scored.
Town went in at the break comfortably on top against a youngish side and with a new manager in Marc Nash.
The Spartans came out for the second half and were straight on the attack but were denied at the near post by Town keeper Michael Acquah.
Town could have increased their lead when Nathan Curtis went clear in the box but he was denied and the chance was cleared.
Centre-back and captain Harvey Booth and his defence denied the home side several chances and Town with fresh legs on in the shape of Kane Richardson, Mohssen Mohamed and Kevy Tarangadzo kept the home side from equalising when in fact Town , who hit a post with 10 minutes left and claimed to have had a shot gone over the line, could have won the game more clearly.
Town’s management of Grant Black and Ricky Ravenhill were delighted with the performance and also seeing the good run continue.

Brighouse Town made it five games unbeaten in the league with a 1-0 home win over Pontefract Collieries.
Before kick off the visitors were in seventh position some ten places above their hosts but with Youssef Chentouf’s 71st minute strike Town bounded up the table to 12th.
Pontefract are a good side and the Town defence had to work hard to keep them from opening their account
Goalkeeper Michael Acquah was in fine form throughout and made splendid saves including one from his captain Harvey Booth in injury time that looked to be going into the net for an own goal.
Pontefract had four former Town players in their squad, namely Noah Payne, Jack Boyle, Jack Wilson and Danny Edwards.
It was Derry Robson’s superb through ball that put Chentouf in on goal and he deftly chipped over keeper Harry Christy.
Only five minutes earlier he had nearly gone close but was denied by Christy on that occasion.
Town defenders Ferdy Annor, Brandon Murillo, Booth and Chris Cordara-Soanes put in a great shift and when the substitutes were introduced in the second half for some of them they also grafted.
Towns front line with Nathan Curtis, Jordan Barnett and Romario Dunne also gave Pontefract’s defensive line plenty to think about.
Town’s management were over the proverbial moon with the effort shown and will to keep the unbeaten run going
On Saturday Town are away at Blyth Spartans who are currently in the relegation area and they know that they will have their work cut out at this famous old non-league club.
A coach will leave the Dusty Miller at 11am
On the injury front striker Jordan Preston (Hamstring) says he is around two weeks off fullback McKenzie Paisley (calf) is back on light training and fellow striker Rhys Plater (ankle ligaments) feels he will be in action again by the end of the month.

Brighouse Town made it four games unbeaten in the league at Hallam last Saturday with a 4-1 victory.
The Sheffield hill top club were unbeaten in their last three but there was only one side going to win this with the way Town set off and up the notorious slope and against the brisk north westerly wind.
Town were on the scoresheet after 17 minutes when Nathan Curtis headed home from a Youssef Chentouf cross and four minutes later Romario Dunne steered the ball home from 15 yards out after home keeper and skipper Hugo Warhurst slipped trying to retrieve a pass back.
Hallam were just heaving the ball down the pitch and centre-backs Harvey Booth and Chris Cordova-Soanes were dealing with everything and keeper Michael Acquah wasn’t troubled.
Derry Robson and George Grumley were superb in midfield.
On 33minutes Dunne hit the crossbar with a snorter from 20 yards out
Just into added on time the home side were given a lifeline from a questionable free kick and Janni Lipka headed in.
Within five minutes of coming on Jason Davis made it 3-1 to Town and the rout was completed in the 72nd minute when Jordan Barnett fired in off the inside of a post.
Assistant player-coach Danny Frost commented after the game that things are coming together and that the side had played Hallam off the park on their own midden.
On Saturday, Town entertain seventh-placed Pontefract Colls 3pm) which will see several former Town players return to the Heffernan Utilities Stadium including Danny Edwards who left the club for Knaresborough Town in late September and has now made the move to Pontefract Cols.
Last Thursday Town were represented by their U-17 players guided by manager Andy Houlihan, and assisted by Mark Ellis, for their first round West Riding County FA Cup tie away to Silsden.
With only 48 hours to the Hallam game, it was decided the U-17s would take on the match and what a good fist of it they made.
Against a first team squad they only just lost 2-0 and were cheered and applauded off the pitch. Silsden’s East Division game on the coming Saturday was off with opponents Dunston playing Hebburn in the FA Trophy on the weekend, while Town did have a fixture away at Hallam and insufficient time between the two fixtures to prepare properly.
