Brighouse Town’s talented attacking midfielder Mohssen Mohamed flew out on Tuesday from Manchester Airport to join the Yemeni squad for Asian Cup and African Cup qualifying games.
The 21 -year-old born to Yemeni parents in Saudi Arabia will be making his international debut if selected for games against Bhutan on November 18 in the Asian Cup qualifier and then on November 26 against Comoros in the Africa Cup qualifier.
Based in Sheffield, and studying for a sports science degree, Mohamed has also been informed he could also be playing in the Under 21 competitions and could be away from the UK for three weeks.
Mo, to his teammates and supporters, said he was obviously over the moon to get an international call up, but he would miss his Brighouse Town family and his girlfriend.
The Town players are delighted for him and looking forward to receiving news from him on their squad app.
“The dressing room at Brighouse right now is pretty special and I feel really interwoven with everyone,” said the former Chesterfield, Doncaster City and Pontefract Colls player.
