Town secured another valuable point on Boxing Day in their away game with Silsden.
Grant Black’s charges went into the lead after six minutes as Nathan Curtis headed home a superb
header from a brilliant cross from Rhys Plater.
In the next 15 minutes Town were the dominant force up the slight slope and against the strong wind.
However in the 23rd minute the Town defence opened up for the talented Silsden left winger Luke Brooksbank and he curled in a good shot to beat Michael Acquah
This breathed life into bc the home side and they saw Acquah three minutes later tip over his bar and they also hit a post and had a shot kicked off the line.
Town finished the half stronger and but for a stray boot would have scored a second from a Plater cross , the ball veering off for a corner.
In the second period skipper Harvey Booth was inches off heading in and Finlay Tunstall also went near but the 1-1 scoreline should have seen the home side nick it five minutes from time when Price fired over a cross from a yard out.
Ahead of New Year Day’s home game with
Bradford Park Avenue (3pm) Town have signed Leeds United Academy goalkeeper Alex Baird on loan as cover
for Acquah.
It will be a tough test on Thursday against the
The former Football League club who are currently in sixth place on 39 points as against Town on 26 pints in 15th place.
Town’s management expect a large crowd and ask spectators to come early to avoid queues at the turnstiles.

Brighouse Town stopped the rot of four straight defeats with a 1-1 home draw against Newton Aycliffe last Saturday.
When on top in the first half after curbing the Durham side’s early excursions, they failed to put the game to bed and paid the price of losing two valuable points as the visitors clawed back an equaliser.
Thanks to some excellent goalkeeping from Michael Acquah who made two great saves in three minutes in the early stages Town kept in the game.
He saved a shot from Thomas Henson and then he saved a penalty from Andrew Nelson. Jason Davis had slid into a tackle just in the box and referee Jamie Howe from Lichfield pointed to the spot. Seven minutes later and Town were in the lead as experienced Nathan Curtis went one on one with visiting custodian Kyle Seymour and made no mistake in finding the back of the net.
Town then continued to press forward and Youssef Chentouf was looking lively and was denied twice by Seymour.
Romario Dunne and Finlay Tunstall,on loan from Accrington Stanley, also had chances to send Town in at the break by a greater margin than 1-0.
Newton Aycliffe cane out strong again in the second half and had much more possession and at times the home goal was under siege but skipper Harvey Booth and George Grumley dealt with matters arising ahead of Acquah mopping up. That was until the 77th minute when Jake Orrell came in from the left and fired across goal to beat Acquah.
Town fans were dismayed but they saw Curtis and subs Rhys Plater and Jordan Preston try their utmost to try snatch a goal for the winner but it just eluded them and even into five minutes of added time.
In the first half Town’s consistent fullback Ferdinand Annor was injured with a bad cut in a kneecap but he played on into the second half until replaced by Plater.
He is Town’s only doubt ahead of Boxing Day’s away game at Silsden (1pm). Silsden lost 3-0 at Pontefract Colls on Saturday and remain two points lower than Town in 17th place.
Town’s other festive fixture is at home on New Year’s Day to Bradford Park Avenue (3pm).
MATCH PREVIEW | Brighouse Town vs Newton Aycliffe
Written by Matthew Burdin
Brighouse look to end the year strongly ahead of final home game of the season against Newton Aycliffe tomorrow.
Brighouse will play for the final time this year at the Heffernan Utilities Stadium as they look to provide the fans with an early Christmas present.
A win for Brighouse on Saturday could drag them up to 12th place and relieve some stress for the time being around any relegation murmurs as we enter the second half of the season.
The visitors are in dire need of some points as they are currently sat in 20th place, however they have played three games less than the Town this season.
Grant Black’s men haven’t won at home since November the 1st, therefore they should certainly be fired up as they look to give the home fans something to cheer about before the year concludes.
Newton Aycliffe have lost their previous two matches, with their last victory dating back to November 18th when they beat the Inform, Bradford Park Avenue 2–0.
Last time out for Brighouse, top goalscorer this season, Romario Dunne scored a brace, however it wasn’t enough to secure any points for the home side as Grimsby Borough managed to put three past the Town.
The key player to look out for in the Newton Aycliffe side is forward, Jack Robertson who is the clubs top goalscorer this season with him finding the net four times despite only starting seven times this season.
The last time these two sides came head to head with one another was back in August, when Newton Aycliffe came from behind to take all the points in a 2-1 victory following two quick goals early on in the second half from Joey Hope and Brennan Fitzpatrick.
Brighouse last beat Newton Aycliffe back in September 2023 – therefore it certainly seems like Brighouse are overdue a win against The Newtonians.

Lady Luck deserted Brighouse Town last Saturday as they went down 3-2 at home to Grimsby Borough.
Dayle Southwell put the visitors ahead after just three minutes with a looping header.
Luis Adlard was the Grimsby saviour shortly after when he hooked the ball off his line as Town went after an equaliser.
Grimsby increased their lead in the 42nd minute through a penalty which was converted by Alfie Taylor.
In added on time Grimsby keeper Seb Auton, on loan from Grimsby Town, made the save of the game from his own player Callum Lovett, which would have been an ideal time to score for Town.
The hosts did pull one back four minutes after the break as Romario Dunne powered home from just inside the box to make it 2-1.
However on 63 minutes slack defensive work allowed the visitors to restore their two goal advantage as Jack Richardson stabbed home from close range.
Acquah saved a blistering shot soon after from Richardson before Dunne belted home his second from just outside the box in the 79th minute.
Bradley Wood was lucky to have only been cautioned for placing his head in front of Towns Jordan Barnett.
Grimsby held out as Town pressed for an equaliser they deserved.
Town, who this Saturday entertain Newton Aycliffe (3pm), went into game without their captain and centre back Harvey Booth who broke a wrist in the previous game at Heaton Stannington.
They brought back Kevy Tarangadzo and introduced striker Ethan Bojang from Lincoln
United.
This Saturdays game is being sponsored Huddersfield Bearings Ltd who are sponsorship partners at Huddersfield Town.
The kick-off time for the Boxing Day game at Silsden has been moved to 1pm.

Brighouse Town’s recent seven match unbeaten run is well and truly over after the past three games in seven days.
Following a week last Saturday’s 3-0 setback at Ashington, they lost 4-0 at home in midweek to league leaders Redcar Athletic and then this past Saturday 2-0 away to Hanging Heaton who play three miles down the road from St James’s Park where Newcastle United where entertaining Burnley.
Against Redcar, Town showed up well and were unlucky to go in at the break v a goal down from v a free kick that was deflected away from keeper Michael Acquah.
It was end-to-end in the second half but Redcar found the net on three more occasions as Town could be classed as unlucky with their goal bound efforts, either just saved or inches wide if an upright.
At Heaton Stannington the pitch survived a 1.45 pitch inspection but it did end up cut up in the pre-match warm up and obviously over both halves of the game after the heavy rain
across lunchtime.
Town went in at the break with the scoreline 0-0 and did gave their chances through Youssef Chentouf and Romario Dunne while EFL professionals Finlay Tunstall (Accrington Stanley) and Jayden Pruitt (Sheffield United) showed up well with some neat football and tenacious tackling.
After some pressure on the Town goal, the home side went into the lead on bc 56 minutes through Konner Lamb and two minutes later they doubled their lead following a free kick which Acquah had cleared onto the back of Dale Pearson who then scrambled the ball home.
Five minutes later and frustration hit the better of Town manager Grant Black and the referee had words and then sent him off.
He has since been fined £100 and given B.C. a two match touchline ban.
On Saturday Town entertain Grimsby Borough (3pm) who they lost 3-2 to back in mid-September.
The match is being sponsored by Halifax-based advertising media group Outdo and they bc will be joined by members of Rastrick Constitutional Club who were denied by the weather sponsoring the Redcar game when it should have been played back in November.
Town fans were pleased to see striker Rhys Plater back in action last Saturday off the bench following his two month
absence since the Matlock game on October 4

A bad day at the office around for Brighouse Town last Saturday at Ashington as they surrendered their seven match unbeaten run.
The weather was atrocious throughout the game with driving rain and a strong wind off the North Sea and steadily deteriorating pitch conditions. Their afternoon fate was finally sealed when goalkeeper Michael Acquah was sent off with five minutes to go.
Town played against the wind and rain in the first half and with two minutes to go must have thought they had done a “great job” on the home side to keep them out. However Josh Gilchrist struck for the Colliers and they went in 1-0 to the good.
In that first 45 minutes Town did have their chances against the elements but Nathan Curtis, Romario Dunne and Youssef Chentouf did have chances to have found the net.
In the first quarter of the second half Town could not adjust to the wind behind them abd kept over hitting the ball and chances were lost.
Gilchrist doubled his tally in the 74th minute when referee Steve Beresford awarded a penalty against Town fullback Ferdinand Annor and 11 minutes later keeper Acquah was adjudged to have brought down the home skipper Karl Ross just inside the box.
Louis Burns made it 3-0 after Acquah had protested his feelings he got to the ball first.
Jordan Barnett took over in goal for Town for the remaining few minutes.
Several of Towns players were suffering from hypothermia in the dressing room after the game and skipper Harvey Booth was particularly bad.
Town have appealed Acquah sending off and until the outcome is known he can play on but Barnett and Annor have both gone to five cautions and will miss Saturdays away trip to Heaton Stannington just on the road from Newcastle United’s St James Park.
In the pipeline for Town is a teaming up with League 2 Accrington Stanley and manager Grant Black was hoping to sign on loan this week midfielder Finton Tunstall.
