Under 10s sign off the 2022/23 Season

Brighouse Town U10 Boys finished our season on Tuesday night with a very close game away at Norristhorpe.

In what has been our first season with Brighouse Town, the team have had a variety of wins, draws, and losses in all sorts of conditions and have given an excellent account of themselves each time.

Particular highlights for the boys were a good cup run to the quarter finals, being ball boys for the senior Men’s team, and playing the end-of term Dads v Lads matches (Lads currently 1 game up).

Coaches Matt and Simon have loved watching the boys develop, grow, and enjoy themselves during both matches and training.

Each player brings something different to the team and it’s been great to see how close-knit they’ve become and how the newer teammates have been welcomed into the fold.

Thanks go to the club for all the support we’ve been given since joining last summer, and to all the parents who have helped in one form or another on matchdays and in training.

Shout out as well to our two great sponsors, ‘Dave Naylor Auto Refinishing’ and ‘OBL Aggregates & Excavation’ who have helped us out with kits and training gear this year.

Finally, a big thanks and a well done to the brilliant kids of Brighouse Town U10s who have made this season so enjoyable: Alby, Archie, Dylan, Freddie, George, Harvey, Jayden, Joseph, Lennon, and Lucas. Now time to get ready for U11’s and all the challenges and changes that brings!

The Under 15 boys progressed in JPL Cup after overcoming Ellougton Blackburn (from Hull) at home. Two goals in eight first half minutes from ‘Jacko’ on 31 and the other from Archie after 39 saw the hosts in the driving seat. Ellougton pulled one back on 70, but the boys held out. Our other U15 side beat Low Moor 2-0 with goals from Callum and Sohan wrapping up the league season described as good overall by the Coaches.

A slightly slow start to the U8 Girls game this morning saw Calverley take an early lead, but that was soon put right with some well worked goals. The game for Brighouse with a real mix of goals from different areas and some solid, strong defending at the other end when it was needed.

The introduction of an extra player for Calverley in the second half didn’t phase our girls who stuck to the game plan and kept going despite the best efforts of the Calverley keeper who had a brilliant game for them. Good communication between the girls and lots of energy right through to the end of the game got the reward it deserved.

Thought every girl was brilliant today, but special mention for Ashley for the goal where she dribbled past pretty much every Calverley player before finishing in the bottom corner. Our U10 Boys also travelled to Crossleys where they turned in a fantastic performance.
