Former Brighouse Town striker Gabriel Johnson on loan from Bury stole the show in Emily’s 5-0 home win last Saturday. He scored a second half hat-trick to take the half-time score of 2-0 to see Town suffer their heaviest defeat of the season.
Without question Town are missing suspended skipper and centre-back Harvey Booth who still has to sit out this coming Saturday’s home game with Lincoln United (3pm) with one game left of a three match suspension.
He’s an imposing player and covers a lot of ground while keeping his teammates straining every tissue.
Chris Dawson gave Emley the lead after four minutes and on a minute later Town’s Rhys Plater hit the crossbar from 35 metres out.
However that was the last piece of excitement for Town fans as Emley took control of the game.
Emley went two up after 25 minutes when Johnson found Ellis Farrar who finished with aplomb
After 60 minutes it became the Johnson show and he had his hat-trick sewn up in 20 minutes aided for his third by former Town player Laurence Sorhaindo.
One thing Grant Blacks players don’t do is drop their heads. They played to the final whistle and were duly applauded off the pitch.
Next week is a tough one for Town as they make 260 mile round trip next Tuesday night for the re-arranged game at Blyth Town and then on the Saturday travel back to the north east to play Gateshead-based Dunston.
Town are finding it tough going financially and are hoping on Saturday football supporters will turn out in force to give them support against Lincoln United.
