Brighouse Town deservedly got what was coming to them after much improved performances-a victory at Lincoln United last Saturday. After good performances against high flyers Matlock Town and Emley with no end result, they saw off Lincoln United 4-1.
In midweek they lost to an 88th minute goal from Emley’s former Town striker Kieran Ceesay. That after having a goal disallowed in the first half that was headed over the goal line and then scrambled out.
Town also narrowly missed the target in the second half with two headers that went the wrong side of the post.
At Lincoln they went a goal down in the 31st minute to a controversial penalty. Skipper and centre-back Harvey Booth got to the ball and Jack Varley dived over him and the next news referee Robert Pealing was pointing to the spot. Skipper Elliott Dye converted and Town were a goal down and the referee was heading to the bench and brandished a red card to manager Grant Black.
Ahead of the goal and dismissal Town had lost defender Brandon Murillo who was injured.
Town heads did not go down and full debutant Youssef Chentouf made his mark with a great run onto the box and then finished with a great goal to beat keeper Heath Richardson.
The healthy home crowd was silenced in the 61st minute when Romario Dunne met a Chentouf cross and headed in.
Town then soaked up some home pressure before making the game safe with two goals from Nathan Curtis in the 80th and 85th minutes thanks to two More assists from Chentouf.
Towns supporters and the bench were over the proverbial moon and were looking forward to their away game this past Tuesday night at Garforth Town.
On Saturday they entertain Dunston from Gateshead (3pm).
Murillo will be a doubt and midfielder Kane Richardson on loan from Rotherham is suspended for three games. Injured striker Rhys Plater (ankle) was at Garforth and minus his surgical boot and champing at the bit to get back into Light training.Good news on centre back Kevy Tarangadzo who had his appendix out in late September, he has had two short spells off the bench and is now itching to get playing again from the off.
Town kept up the good work at Garforth with a much deserved 1-0 win. The winning goal came in the 49th from Nathan Curtis and capped off an excellent team performance against quality opposition.
