In the past few days there has been a further boost for Brighouse Town manager Grant Black with three more players agreeing to stay on and also news of 20 players who have asked to join pre-season training and have trials.
Experienced central defender Kevy Tarangadzo, 33, is the biggest name of the three, with FC Halifax Town loanee and centre-back Harvey Coates, 19, and former Huddersdfield Town and Golcar United utility player Isaac Acquah, 20 joining him.
Tarangadzo in his career with Yorkshire Amateur, Witton Albion, Liversedge, Eccleshill United, Whitby Town and Farsley Celtic has always been with his strong and physical presence a rock in the centre of a defence. When Joshua Grant was injured and suspended last season, Tarangadzo was made acting captain. Coates showed a lot of promise last term and also showed a utility value and Acquah, a fans favourite named as `super sub’ by them, can only go on to much better things and again he is a strong and physical player. Players cannot actually put pen to paper until July 1 and that will be five days before the first pre-season friendly away to Barnsley club Athersley Recreation (1.00). The game will actually be played at the Dorothy Hyman Stadium at Cudworth and the squad will have been in pre-season training for a week.
British and Yorkshire Police centre -back Jamie Allsop has been released.
Off the pitch the club will be playing in the extra-preliminary round of the FA Cup on August 2, with the draw being made in the first week of July.
Season ticket prices have been announced with adult tickets at £160.00 and concessions at £95.00, with an `Early Bird’.offer of £130 and £75.00 running until June 30.Tickets can be ordered from the club treasurer Dave Wormald on Wormald_david@sky.com.
New signing Danny Frost has already got his Barnsley company iSource, a vehicle sourcing company, involved with sponsoring the players’ tracksuits and Nexus, who got involved with the club last season, are once more sponsoring the back of the shirts.
Work has got underway with the pitch ahead of the first pre-season games on it for Saturday, July 12 when Brigg Town are due and the following Tuesday when Golcar United are the visitors.
