After receiving the referee’s report and a statement from the player concerned, the Club has reviewed video footage in an attempt to identify the person(s) involved. The evidence gathered points to one of a small group of young people next to the goals at the far end of the ground. Unfortunately, these individuals cannot be recognised from the footage due to the misty weather conditions on the day and the distance involved.
We would appeal to anyone who might have any further information about this group of young people to get in touch with the Club at the earliest opportunity.
Brighouse Town would like to thank our friends at Liversedge for their help and full co-operation in investigating this matter, and both Clubs will continue to make inquiries to identify the culprit and take the necessary disciplinary action if at all possible.
Brighouse Town and Liversedge fully support the player who was the target of this abuse. Neither club accepts any form of discrimination, racist language or abuse, which simply does not belong in our game.
