MATCH REPORT | Brighouse Town 2-5 Bradford Park Avenue

By James Bushnell

In the first half of the game Brighouse started off positive by creating runs out wide to try get an early chance at goal their main primary target for this job was TJ (number 11) with his raw speed and talent on the ball to get past the defender. It was very obvious why this was one of the best ways they could attack the Bradford defense early on in the game but 9 minutes in Bradford’s 17 Nowakowski scored to make it 1-0 to Bradford Park Avenue. This completely changed the system with how Brighouse was playing they became more defensive and were trying to use the counter as their way to attack by doing this Brighouse became more solid in defense they became more compact with the 4-4-2 formation they were using, by becoming more compact and stopping the attack coming from the middle of the park this didn’t stop Bradford to use the channels instead to try force a goal but it was well defended by the brighouse center halves. But by defending well from this weathering storm of attacks created by Bradford the breakthrough goal was achieved by finding TJ on the wing he darted infield where he had a mass amount of green space to run into to find Clarke waiting for the ball with a preside pass Clarke with his left foot did a powerful shot towards goal what was evidently deflected in, but it was enough to beat the keeper and it was now 1-1. By getting themselves back into the game Brighouse in the last 15 mins of the first half were turning the screw and budling up the pressure on the Bradford defense they looked hungry to try get a second and be Infront but the whistle for half time sounded this was a saved by the bell moment for Bradford as they were running out of options to try keep the Brighouse attack at bay.

Going into the second half all the momentum was on Brighouse’s side and I was expecting them to come out and try get that second goal they were craving for in the last 15 minutes of the first half but that was not the case as Bradford came out the much stronger side in the second half and within 2 minutes of the second half Brighouse was 2-1 to the wrath of Bradford’s number 8 Hibbs. With this early goal I thought some of the brighouse players heads would drop but this didn’t faze them at all as the passing was excellent even in the wet conditions and by on the counter and going down the centre of the park, they forced a save from the Bradford Goalkeeper. Brighouse were trying to turn the screw and try build up the momentum they once had but this was not meant to be as they gave away a silly freekick to Bradford what costed them dearly and was 3-1 down to another Hibbs goal. With it now being 3-1 to Bradford Park Avenue Brighouse once again became a defensive unit and was putting bodies Infront of the ball to try not concede another goal but a loose interception from a brighouse player found its way to Bradford’s number 16 this was not a great combination with a first-time finish as now Brighouse were 4-1 down. But there was hope from a brilliant team goal from brighouse this counter attack was too much for Bradford to handle with a nicely ball cut across the face of goal TJ the number 11 for Brighouse had an easy tap in this goal was well deserved as throughout the game TJ for Brighoue town was superb he never gave up on any ball he was chasing down with this hope brighouse were trying with all their might to try get another goal consequently by going for a more attack approach in the last 20 minutes they conceded against this time to Bradford’s number 7 Guilfoyle. Even with the score line being 5-2 to Bradford Park Avenue Brighouse were never giving up which is the best you can ask for from Brighouse town.
