We are delighted to announce the appointment of Danny Chadwick as the club’s new U17 Elite Coach.
Danny Chadwick (pictured on the left) joins the club after previously coaching in his own academy and at a number of clubs including Forza Football Academy, Barnsley Football Club and Cardiff City. Danny possesses his FA Level 2 as well as a FD in Football Coaching and Performance alongside a number of other football coaching accolades. Danny’s role will see him take the current U16’s into next season as the U17’s and develop them ready for the 2021/22 season. Mark Ellis (pictured right) will continue the amazing role he has done as U16 Elite Coach with a new U16 team being created in time for the 2021/22 season with details on trials for that team coming out soon.
Danny who attended his first training session on Thursday night had this to say “I’m very delighted to be joining Brighouse Town Football Club. It’s a great opportunity for me at a great club who have a massive influence in their community so I’m really happy to be here especially now we’re out of lockdown. I really enjoyed my first training session with the lads and can’t wait to continue aiding their development over the next 18 months. The main aim for me is to develop the players so that they are capable of being able to play in the first team, whether that’s in 6 weeks, 6 months or 18 months time. For the U17, we will be competing in the Nerf Junior Premier League and Cup so we want to achieve as much success as possible in these competitions.”
U16 Elite Coach Mark Ellis was full of praise on the appointment of Danny Chadwick to the role. He had this to say “As a young coach, Danny will be able to maintain the level of enthusiasm that is required in continuing their development into open age football. His methods & philosophy mirror currently what is being coached already so he is a perfect fit into the role. The relationship that me and Danny have will be key as what we instill from early engagement must reflect inevitably where Vill wants to be with regards to 1st team recruitment.”
Head of Youth Football Mark Booth also was full of praise for Danny on appointing him to the role. He said “It was obvious throughout the selection process that Dan had a maturity about him and a level of understanding of how the game should be played, with good presentation skills and attention to detail made him the ideal candidate for the job. Mark and Nigel’s decision to continue their good work with the U16s and developing their already excellent relationship with Calderdale school boys elite team providing Brighouse with the best of Calderdale’s footballers meant that the current U16s needed a reliable coach who can carry the Brighouse way of playing into the new season and Danny fits the bill. Mark and Nigel also help provide the 15 year olds the the structure to help their success further down the Academy path which is why it was key they chose to keep the U16 roles.
Working with Mark Ellis has been easy, we have known each other for over 25 years having both been at Brighouse Town and Brighouse Sunday league team “The Star” together for a number of years. We played for some of the same managers and have the same values “honesty and integrity” combined with hard work being the foundations for player development, whilst never losing site of the importance of playing with a “smile on their face.”
There are exciting times for the academy and junior sections for the coming season. We have already announced that the U16s will move up a year and will be supported by another U16 team which we are just about to start recruiting, we are also adding two U14s teams to the club for the coming season meaning we will have 10 teams under the junior and academy umbrella which is excellent from a club point of view to keep growing the junior section but also for the community to see that their only semi professional team in the town has junior sections that have a clear pathway towards the first team.”
Welcome Danny to Brighouse Town! #OneTownOneTeam
