Brighouse Echo Sport – Town News

BRIGHOUSE TOWN have this week announced the name for the twelve club cup competition they are hopefully running to give West and South Yorkshire clubs some meaningful action from Tuesday, April 13, writes Dave Parker.

After asking their supporters and others on line over the past 10 days, they are to call it the Yorkshire Trophy 2021.

Manager Vill Powell has put a tremendous amount of work into the organisation of the competition which will now have its final at The Yorkshire Payments Stadium after Bradford City had to reluctantly turn down the request for it to be played there on Saturday, May 29.

In the meantime Town are also looking to employ an U-17s elite coach and applicants with a minimum Level 2 to their name can ring Youth manager Mark Booth on 0788 4387289.

The Northern Premier League Ground Grading committee will visit the club’s stadium this Friday morning and be met by former chairman and manager Ray McLaughlin and the club’s general manager Darren Laycock.

“A lot of work by our team of volunteers has been put in over the past month and I am pretty confident we should be alright on the day,” said McLaughlin.

The club has terminated the £1,000 Football Bingo that has run in the 2019-20 season to March 23 last year and carried on in to this season until it was “curtailed” at the start of the month, so they can have a clean edge to next season’s competition.

The joint three winners with FOUR of the goal times from the five boxes are Karen Stewart, Judith Dyson and Dave Kerry.
